buildup welding on dozer rollers and blade

Lots of welders figure that a E etc has 70ksi TS so its stronger than the base material . Strength has nothing to do with it. Using welding / joining electrodes for buildup is a bad idea because Es, E71T-9 cored wires etc have little compressive strength. Take a MIG, E weld and beat it with a chipping hammer.

How to Arc Weld (with Pictures)

 · E electrodes are a reverse polarity electrode, commonly used for welding steam and water pipes, and are particularly useful for overhead welding, since the metal holds its position while in a liquid state, being drawn into the molten weld pool by the flow of the direct current from the electrode to the workpiece.

How to Make Hard Facing Decisions

 · How welding professionals use hard facing. The equipment technicians' use for hard facing, and the technique, can vary based on the site of the work (shop versus field) and the metals involved. "Usually people use a coated electrode [arc welding], or they use a Mig welder, for Mig welders using tubular wires," Lopez says.

The different types of wear plates and their uses

Different industrial needs require different types of wear plate. Heavy, bulky wear plates on fixed plant machinery may seem more durable, but in reality, produce strain on equipment. Lighter, thinner wear parts, can be more effective due to the efficiencies of ergonomics and aerodynamics.
